2 clicks for more privacy

It has become customary to provide social media buttons on almost any webpage, to allow the visitor to like / tweet / +1 anything on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. But those social media buttons instantly transmit data to the respective social network when the page is being loaded, even if the button never is clicked. The transmitted information includes special identifiers that allow to recognize a user (sometimes even if that user is not logged in, or has not even created an account yet).

This allows the respective networks to create full surf-profiles of their users (and potential future users) by tracking them everywhere those buttons are displayed. Through their ToS and EULA the companies operating those networks usually reserve the right to share all that data with, and sell it to, third parties without any further notice.

Since we value your privacy, we do not want to transmit any data about your visit to a social network or other third party without your knowledge and consent. You can give your consent by simply clicking on a button to activate it. Once the button is active you can then use it as usual with a second click.

If you feel that added second click is too inconvenient, you can also activate those buttons permanently through the options menu next to them - after which they will be automatically actived when the page loads, allowing you to operate them with a single click.

By loading those buttons only on demand we don't intrude on anyones privacy without their knowledge and consent while still giving you the option to share your interests on a social network at any time you want to.
