The tuberculosis is an infectious disease that represents a serious global public health problem,
especially in developing countries.
It is estimated that one-third of the world's population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis .
Considering the disease's high prevalence and some limitations of the laboratory diagnosis,
it is imperative for the radiologist to know how to recognizehow thoracic tuberculosispresents in image.
this work proposes to demonstrate these varied...
Primary tuberculosis occurs especially in immunosuppressed individuals or children who have not had previous contact with the bacillus and develop the disease in the first infection.
It may present as lymphadenopathy,
pleural effusion and milliary disease,
with lymph node enlargement being the most common manifestation. Post-primary tuberculosis usually occurs in adults afterreinfection or reactivation of a latent focus.
The lung is the most affected organ.
Findings and procedure details
Will be exposed the most varied findings in thoracic image: primary complex,
random distribution nodules (miliary tuberculosis),
reverted halo sign,
sarcoid galaxy sign,
pleural tuberculosis ,
bone and Pott's disease.
The present work proposes to carry out an iconographic essay,
by means of an electronic panel with cases of the institution (Hospital Universitário Antônio Pedro,
Universidade Federal Fluminense/Niterói,
thatshows the pleomorphic manifestations of this entity,
in order to review a relevant subject.
Faced with such representations,
it is the role of the radiologist to suggest this diagnostic possibility.
