To know an adequate technique to perform a brain ultrasound,
its advantages and limitations as well as the main indications in neonatal pathology.
Brain ultrasound is frequently used in the study of neuroanatomy and pathology of the neonatal brain.
It is the first technique to study the short- and long-term complications of premature newborns and is very useful to address multiple clinical situations.
It allows selecting which patients will benefit from other invasive techniques,
more expensive or requiring sedation,
such as the magnetic resonance.
It does not emit ionizing radiations.
it is a widely available and a low-cost...
Findings and procedure details
In this poster we will detail how to carry out an adequate systematic technique of brain ultrasound,
its limitations and its main indications in the pathology of the newborn. -Systematic technique for the study of brain ultrasound Brain ultrasound starts with basic grey scale imaging using a linear-array transducer through anterior fontanelle in the coronal and sagittal planes.
The most relevant anatomical structures should be clearly represented in two planes.

In this era of radiation awareness,
brain ultrasound is more important than ever,
because is a reliable technique in the diagnosis and monitoring of congenital and acquired neonatal pathologies.
