Supra aortic occlusive disease is atherosclerosis of supra aortic arterial branches,
and is characterized by stenosis or occlusion of the blood vessel lumen.Stenosis is caused by the creation of an atherosclerotic plaque in the intima of the blood vessel and usually covers carotid bifurcation and / or internal carotid artery (fig.2),
and left subclavian artery (1) .
Carotid disease is a major cause of cerebrovascular disease,
which are the third most common cause of...
Methods and Materials
6 years period (2008 to 2013) study,
included 97 primary or secundary endovascularytreatedpatients with supraaortic occlusive disease (extracranial carotid artery stenosis or subclavian artery stenosis).
All endovascular interventions were performed in Center for Radiology Clinical Center of Vojvodina,
in Interventional radiology department with Axiom Artis Siemens device.
Vascular interventions were performed in operating room in Clinic for vascular and transplantation surgeri...
6/97 (6,2%) patients had in-stent stenosis (all of them after right carotid stent placement),
confirmed on MSCTA and preprocedural DSA,
and 91/97 (93,8%) patients were without in-stent stenosis. 78/97 (80.41%) patients were primarly endovasculary threated (fig 3) and 19/97 (19.59%) were endovasculary threated due to carotid/subclavian restenosis after open surgery. Based on clinical and imageing findings,
balon dilatation of carotid stent stenosis (fig 4) was performed in 3/6 (50%) patients...
In all of our endovasculary treated patients with supraaortic occlusive disease,
in-stent stenosis was primarly diagnosed on MSCTA,
and after confirmed on preprocedural angiography.
In-stent stenosis was found in patients after right carotid stent placement.
In patients with supraaortic in-stent stenosis,
surgical and endovascular reintervention had good early revascularisation effect.
